CEDARWOOD FUNDRAISERS

“Buy-a-Brick” Campaign

BACKGROUND & PURPOSE

To raise funds for more classrooms to be built at the school, a “Buy-a-Brick” campaign was started at Cedarwood School late last year. The school has partnered with Corobrik, who are our designated brick suppliers and our event co-sponsors. We are approaching Parents, Teachers, Corporates, and the public who are willing to donate a certain amount in return for the knowledge of having contributed tangibly towards the upgrade and expansion of this special school. They will also be afforded the option of purchasing either engraved or labelled (with a plaque) bricks, with their personal name, date and message, which will be built into the Resource Centre or other designated areas of the new building. Bricks are valued at R10 each. If you “buy” more than 250 bricks, then you will get a free engraved brick. If you “buy” more than 500 bricks then you will receive a brick with a brass plaque with your details engraved into the plaque. All money contributed will be eligible for a Tax deduction by SARS.

Brickathon Event

On 17 March 2018, despite the heavy rain, spirits were high as the Cedarwood College and Preparatory pupils formed a human chain from Corobrik’s Kyalami Branch (next to Ludwig’s Roses) right up to the Cedarwood School parking lot. Pupils stood approximately 10 meters apart, and walked forward with brick in hand to the next pupil, and so on. The aim of this event was to create public awareness, parent involvement, build self-esteem and having pride in our school. All the bricks carried on the day, as well as a huge amount of sponsored bricks, will be used to start the building of additional classrooms to aid in the benefit of our future generations.

A massive thank you needs to go to each and every single one of our sponsors who helped make the day possible and for making it a huge success:
